This is one of the tenets of my advice to voters and legislators about immigration – don’t be a jerk! OK, I’ll flesh that out. 1. Get to know immigrants and their advocates 2. Don’t just legislate against immigrants, legislate for them 3. Never dehumanize, demonize, or submit to an “us vs. them” mentality 4. Don’t take everything you hear at face value 5. Put the same principles in laws for immigrants that we have in laws for us – i.e. balance/proportionality, fresh start…
I’ll have to add this comic to the relevant portion of my future PowerPoint-based (Keynote-based, of course) documentary issue film.
