I didn't want to dehumanize him. I know him and I feel terrible--even though I don't quite know why. It's very surreal that this happened on my block and I know the guy who was a key player in all of this. It sounds like some of the questions with which you have been wrestling are beginning to be answered -- i.e., what might a genuinely Christian response not only to the victims and your neighbors look like, but to the perpetrator of these crimes. Everything changes when we begin to see the humanity of those around us. Please continue to keep us updated (at least as much as you are able to, in the midst of so much busy-ness and stress).
